Is 8 years old (my daughter) too young to inform someone that as great as Thanksgiving is it was really just a venture capital/land grab scheme to establish a position in the Americas and take it from the Spanish (St. Augistine Fla estab. 1565)?
Maybe we will just let her know that the first Thanksgiving (Va.), and the latter in Mass, were cases of "the locals" feeling sorry for these weird strangers and wanted to see if they could help them not starve.....leaving out the cannibalism part (Jamestown) of course....or maybe we will just play "Alice's Restaurant" for her.
Thoughts?

Guess which I'll be doing?

(7,947 posts)Can't stop at just Thanksgiving though. Civilization has been one giant land grab. It's the largest privatization mechanism ever built.
