Just signed up for a different Med D provider.

This will be the fourth. Or maybe the fifth. Anyway, current provider was planning to triple my premium. So, went through the website, filled out the necessary info, entered the names of all the pills. Eight providers fit my budget, but only one included all my meds on their formulary; surprising, as the ones they excluded are generic and have been around a long time.

Took me three attempts, but mostly because I'm not as cyber-savvy as the average second grader. But I got it figured out, reviewed everything I'd entered, held my breath and clicked on "submit". Now I just have to wait for snailmail confirmation.

Fingers crossed that I didn't totally screw it up!

I don't go it alone. I have a long standing relationship with one pharmacy and one primary doc. Both look at the options (the pharmacist at available coverage options and the MD at appropriate medications for a specific condition).

This 3 way "team approach" has really worked well for me. Any and all insurance plans routinely adjust their covered formularies. Mostly, we go the generic route where the pharmacist can find the best deal, save for a few specialized meds that remain under patent.

The key, I think is a health care team approach. Best of luck.

prices at Costco. You don't have to be a member to use their pharmacy and their prices are often half what they are at Walgreen's type stores. Just a thought.

out who to go with. I need some expensive meds and most do not want to pay much of anything on them and have to pre auth everything.
