The reason some stores should be open during the holidays.

My husband received a phone call at 5 am this Thanksgiving. His dad who just had quadruple bypass two months ago is back in the hospital with clots in his lungs. My husband got on the phone with a relative who is a travel agent. It took him some time to book a flight and we weren't sure when my husband would be leaving. He had to make sure he would have the medicine he would need. He was out of his Valium and was up to this point doing okay without it. But this is big time stress. This kind of stress usually lands my husband in the hospital, so we had to make sure he had his Valium. His doctor called in a prescription to the local Rite Aid, and we got it filled today thank goodness. He has already taken some because the stress of worrying about his father is already starting to make him sick. We found out his flight isn't until Saturday, so in hind sight we could have gotten it filled tomorrow, but earlier today we didn't know that. Thank you Rite Aid for being open when sick people need you to be there for them.

Having drug stores or even grocery stores open, for emergency necessities, is not exactly the same as Walmart being open so people can go buy a new HDTV or IPhone.

Might like to go shopping on a Thursday for iPhones and HDTVs while all the Americans are having turkey.

If enough of those people mill around the parking lot, the store will open.

Not to mention we made three runs to runs to grocery store today for things we forgot yesterday.

I've been in a Walmart on Thanksgiving before. Most of the customers were doing the same thing I was doing, running in for that last minute item for the dinner.

Indeed, it took me three cycles of the red light in front of the shopping center to get through it because there were so many cars trying to get in, that's extremely unusual at that time of the evening.

Somehow I don't think they were all going in for last minute items for Thanksgiving dinner.

the ones who treat them the worst are probably also ones who don't tell them when they apply that they will be working during the holidays.

and then the problem with how it's hyped up and dangerous at places like walmart.
