In the US the Friday after Thanksgiving, known as Black Friday, is traditionally start of the Christmas shopping season and has become the biggest shopping day of the year.
One-off deals, which retailers are known to launch on the day to lure shoppers into stores, attract mobs of people every year.
This inevitably turns into chaos at many stores as avid shoppers fight to bag a bargain.
This year a number of Walmart shops have already witnessed scuffles among consumers.
Police said they had to pepper spray a man in New Jersey Walmart stop after he became "belligerent" while arguing with another shopper over a TV.
