I feel like the obsession with "Game Change" is playing into every liberalism=Hollywood stereotype that's existed over the last 30-40 years.

(59,264 posts)Game Change was co-written by a Republican-leaning journalist named Mark Halpernin, who did countless interviews in the Obama and MacCain campaigns. No less an authority than McCain's chief strategist, Steve Schmidt also attests. There were many elements tot he book, so the producers focused on the Palin selection.

(3,469 posts)I know that Breitbart's minions have been told to go to web sites and blogs to attack this movie but I can't for the life of me see why a progressive would be against it. Hmmm...it's a conundrum.

(4,876 posts)Yeah I kind of figured it was for profit when they send me a bill every month.
HBO has some of the best programming on TV. It has nothing to do with "stereotypes". And what "obsession"? The movie just aired, it brought back lots of bad feelings, of course people are going to talk about it. As far as "facts" are concerned most of what was in the movie was already public knowledge.

(3,574 posts)We did lose an hour. To be fair, the documentary covered lesbian scenesmeant for men, male gay movies and movies actually marketed to lesbians. It was interesting. Oh, "Game Change" was pretty good too!

(19,089 posts)DUers DO get their facts outside of HBO .... Why would you presume that we are all so one dimensional and narrow minded as to only get facts from one single television channel ? ...
Hey ... Here is a concept - Get historical facts from many sources, INCLUDING HBO ....

This Palin thing I have yet to see, but I don't see how it can make any difference, good or bad. She's as exposed a character as any has ever been. Everyone already knows what they think.

(3,222 posts)That said, one of the authors of the book, Mark Halperin, has always tilted toward the GOP. Nicole Wallace, a long-time Republican operative and primary Palin handler, said the portrayal was so close to the truth it made her squirm.
Since so may of the sources of the book/movie were dedicated Republicans, I think this effort is probably pretty reliable.

(113,582 posts)which premiered on HBO on March 21, four days short of the 100th anniversary, in any way
reinforced the "hollywood is full of liberals" meme?
or, for that matter, any number of excellent documentaries I have seen on hbo?
by the way, as difficult as this may be to believe, many of us know the difference between documentaries, docu-dramas, and entertainment. but thanks for your concern.
