you'll qualify for FREE Healthcare insurance under Medicaid.Just sayin'
Consider This A Public Service Announcement.
1. The Federal Poverty Line is $11,490.
2. Under Obamacare, anyone earning 138% of the FPL or less ($15,856) is eligible for free insurance under MEDICAID (provided your State government chose to accept the federal money for it).
3. If you live in a Red State with a mean, spiteful GOP Government, that refused the Medicaid Expansion money, your State Government is making you suffer for purely partisan political reasons.
4. Work to vote those idiots out of office next time, and get the medical insurance you're entitled to.
Thank you for your attention.
Footnote: If you DO live in a Red State, and are one of those people being crushed between the good intentions of your fellow citizens at the Federal level and the mean spirited partisan instincts of politicians at the local level, all is not lost. You still qualify for an insurance premium SUBSIDY under Obamacare. If you are near the FPL, the Obamacare subsidy will cover nearly all of your premium payment.
Go to the Kaiser Foundation premium calculator, and check for yourself.

(86,647 posts)But when schools were programatically stupified long ago... it's hard to get the several generations of uneducated to see what's really going on.

(5,954 posts)all the people who lived through the first Great Depression as adults were dead before going full throttle on the bashing the poor and mollycoddling the rich meme. What you don't learn in school, you usually learn on your Grandfather's knee, like I did. Mainly, how we've been through all this stuff before, during the Gilded Age of corporate ownership of government, de-regulated financial markets that crashed the world economy in 1929, and how FDR dug us out of the Great Depression using progressive governing methods.

(80 posts)I'm still waiting for the day when the poor in the red states and blue states will realize how much they have in common and who the common enemy is.
But somehow, we still let the rich play a game of divide and conquer.

(5,954 posts)the 'culture wars' and the 'politics of resentment' strategy of winning elections.
The trick now is to get those that do realize it organized and motivated.

(80 posts)Every time I read a post on a progressive forum trashing the South I wonder if some people on the left really get it.

(5,954 posts)...I just realized you're 'HAPPYFUNBALL!' That was one of my favorite SNL skits!
(But yeah, that 'culture wars' gimmick works both ways! And northern liberals don't realize they're being played for suckers by it just as much as southerners!)

(86,647 posts)"get" that. Not sure how to remedy the situation when you have a (D) governor and two Senators and (R) dominated legislative body and the one House member we have due to low population. Corporate ranching operations and all the mining and fracking we have here pretty much undermine us at every turn. And we have a no citizens united rule too.
I totally agree about the divide and conquer part.
