General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIf you care about Martin Bashir, can you please write Phil Griffin/MSNBC?
Griffin is the suit who has forced out so many of our voices.
Now Bashir has been forced out by the Teabaggers. He has resigned.
Are we going to let this one go, too?
Or are we going to roar?
Next they could come for Chris Hayes. Or Rachel. Or Ed again.

BTW PALIN is poor excuse for a woman as SHE would sell your grandchild (your kids) to make a buck.

MSNBC suspended host Ed Schultz for a week on Wednesday after Schultz called rival pundit Laura Ingraham a right-wing slut during a radio broadcast teh day before. Paul Farhi reports:
Schultz apologized for the comment on his TV program, The Ed Show, on Wednesday night, saying he had used vile and inappropriate language in referring to Ingraham. I am deeply sorry, and I apologize, he said. It was wrong, uncalled for, and I recognize the severity of what I said. I apologize to you, Laura, and ask for your forgiveness.
Schultzs slur was a response to Ingrahams criticism of President Obamas trip to Ireland. Ingraham had noted that Obama was touring Ireland while devastating tornadoes were hitting the United States, including one that killed 116 people in Joplin, Mo.
President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Mo., on Sunday, but you know what [Republicans are] talking about, like this right-wing slut, whats her name? Laura Ingraham? Schultz said on the air. Yeah, shes a talk slut. You see, she was, back in the day, praising President Reagan when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obamas doing it, theyre working him over.

(676 posts)You can have your delusions or conspiracy theories or whatever it is you have. I didn't bring up Ed or what he may or may not have said, someone else did. And post counts don't make you right or any better than any other poster. It just means you don't have much else to do.

(99,663 posts)Look at my post count since 2004 I believe. Then goggle my Ed posts. I'm true blue,
Packerowner740
(676 posts)Certainly wasn't me. I don judge a person by how many posts they have or when their join date was. In fact I don't judge people, that would mean I would have to feel I am superior, that's not the way I am.

(676 posts)I guess I just come from another time when you don't talk to or about other people like that, especially a woman. I address women as ma'am, hold doors and elevators for them, let them go before me and pull out chairs for them but that was just how I was raised.
flamingdem
(39,313 posts)so it was out of character but that happens to most humans now and then.
Agree it was inappropriate and gross.

"Abraham, Martin & John"
Please don't get you panties in a bunch (or boxers), I know they haven't accomplished what Abraham, Martin & John have but all of these men have stood up against inequality, and for minorities and the poor.
"Keith, Martin & Cenk"
Has anybody here seen my old friend Keith
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He woke up a lot of people,
But it seems good he left MSNBC
You know, I just looked around and he's gone.
Anybody here seen my old friend Cenk?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He woke up lot of people,
But wouldn't sell out...I just looked around and he's gone.
Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He woke up a lot of people,
But it seems good he didn't sell out too.
I just looked 'round and he's gone.
Didn't you love the things that they stood for?
Didn't they try to find some good for you and me?
And we'll be free
Some day soon, and it's a-gonna be one day ...
Anybody here seen my old friend Dylan?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
Thought I saw him hiring vets and organic farming,
perhaps someday with Keith, Martin and Cenk.

(103,856 posts)MSNBC considers itself an upper-tier network, and crude remarks are not tolerated..
I believe that Martin's obvious left-leaning British upbringing, and some of the values he holds, were never in-line with MSNBC brass..and I think Martin preferred to leave rather than be on a leash, and be in permanent purgatory..
I hope he has some money stashed away though, because I know he has a young family.. Right now he is kind of radioactive and will have to lay low for a while..
If I were him, I would skedaddle back to the UK where there is a more civilized society..
They are more forgiving there too..
