Arouse the populist fervor by talking about breaking up the Big Banks?
Get a "You go Girl" for saying Social Security should be expanded?
Remind the talking heads on TV there are still millions unemployed?
Its hard to tell whats shes going to do, because if shes not running, she is doing everything right as a Senator. And if she is going to run, well again shes doing everything right in the lead up to a Presidential run.
Heres an interesting point, Candidate Warren raised more cash in her senate run than any other Senate candidate (43million) Except for candidates that self funded like Linda McMahon in Ct (loser) and Scott Brown, (Warrens opponent in Ma.) (Loser).
Warren has demonstrated some serious fundraising capability, better than soon to be Senator Obama in his first run.

Edit:
Apparently no one really tried to read my OP.
The point being, what does a hard working Senator look like, and what does a hard campaigning candidate for President look like?
Answer: The same or very similar.

(273 posts)She wouldn't put lobbyists for industry into key roles like the FCC or FDA.
But to the bigger point, she's not running. I just hope we get a decent progressive to run since she's not.

(18,402 posts)I don't know where people make up these stories in their heads. I think it's better to try reading newspapers once in a while. In case you've forgotten, Ms. Warren made a huge reach out to Wall Street bankers when she was charged with setting up the CFPB:
Elizabeth Warren, the Harvard University law professor who is setting up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, announced her latest string of hires on Thursday, including former managing directors at Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley.
Congress created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to protect consumers from abuses in the lending industry. Now the bureau is turning to former members of the industry to help it police banks, credit card companies and mortgage lenders.
Building a team to develop smarter financial regulations means hiring top-notch leaders with a wide range of experiences, Ms. Warren said in a statement.
>
The bureaus hires announced Thursday include Rajeev Date, the former Deutsche Bank managing director. Mr. Date, who also worked at Capital One Financial as a senior vice president, will be the bureaus associate director for research, markets and regulations.
Raj Date and his team bring a wealth of experience in the financial services industry, government, nonprofits, community banking and academia, Ms. Warren said.
Ms. Warren also hired Elizabeth Vale, a Morgan Stanley managing director who was vice president and portfolio manager at Philadelphia National Bank. Her industry experience will come in handy she will serve as a liaison to community banks and credit unions.

I'm not criticizing her for this, but I am distressed that people create these angels and demons, titles that have nothing to do with facts. Here's some facts I've put on the table. Deal with them.

You are so right about the angels and demons thing. Not every banker is evil incarnate and not every progressive is god's sweetest angel.

My point was to question why the poster above thought Senator Warren would never hire the bankers who caused all the mess to run things, while Senator Warren would not.

(273 posts)I didn't mean she would go find a bunch of folks that don't know the subject.
I've deleted a longer response to you like 5 times because it sounds like I'm speaking to a child. So I'll just leave it at that.
Have a nice day and go jump on somebody else's case.

Closing Guantanimo is up to Congress, not Obama. He wanted it closed (and I have no reason not to believe him) in the first year but was stopped, as he is stopped with almost everything he tries to do in case you haven't noticed.
I'm done.
RC
(25,592 posts)He could have ordered it closed and the personal transferred elsewhere. He could have ordered the people in charge there to hold trials or courts-martial for the inmates to clear the prisoners. He did not. With the prisoners released or sentenced to serve elsewhere, there would be no reason to leave that prison open. There are always alternatives, if you want something done.
Why did he cave to the Republicans so often?
Please explain his Chained CPI stance?
BTY, I wasn't going to bring up Guantanamo Bay.

This country was setup specifically, so as not to have royalty. I guess some people did not get the message, even after 237 years.

(13,211 posts)There wouldnt be a lot of difference between Warren kick ass as a US Senator, and a Presidential campaign.

(4,651 posts)that's all you'd need to greatly strengthen the Senate for progressive causes.
President Warren couldn't do much with a republican House and Senate but a more moderate (read likely) Dem with a Dem Congress could do huge things...
And yes, I did read your OP, I'm sure Warren would be a tireless presidential candidate but that doesn't mean she'd win.
FogerRox
(13,211 posts)And I agree, 5 or 6 would alter the Senate landscape considerably.

Get over it!
There are many people here who are glad because the US Senate needs Elizabeth Warren, and many more like her.
Whoever is president of the USA in 2017 will be thankful that she is in the Senate.
That's what the Warren 2016 crowd has yet to learn. The President cannot do it alone. They need allies within the Capital Building. A progressive Democratic president could not have better ally than Elizabeth Warren. Nor could a moderate one!!!!'
Got it now?
