Santorum: My grades suffered because I was conservative.
"Santorum's Profs Beg to Differ"
http://articles.philly.com/2012-03-11/news/31145518_1_rick-santorum-heinz-campaign-student-body March 11, 2012|By Karen Heller, Inquirer Columnist
<snip> "I can tell you professor after professor who docked my grades because of the viewpoints I expressed and the papers that I wrote. There's no question that happened," Santorum said. He added: "I used to go to war with some of my professors, who thought I was out of the pale, these are just not proper ideas," noting, "There is clearly a bias at the university." <snip> "I never received a complaint from any students that a professor had downgraded them because they were conservative and the professor was too liberal, or a student was too liberal with a conservative professor," Robert Friedman told me. He served as chair of the political science department in the late 1970s when Santorum was a student. "Any problem he had with his grades had nothing to do with the fact that he was politically conservative."Friedman said. "He wasn't a very serious student." "He was an OK student," noted O'Connor, "not great." <snip> The real story about Rick Santorum's education is this one: "He was telling a story that isn't true," Friedman said. "It's a fantasy," Eisenstein echoed. "You're in a political campaign and you're dealing with people you can get to applaud if you tell stories about people being indoctrinated and liberal professors, but it's not true." ![]() "I was indoctrinated at that Berkeley-esque bastion of liberalism: Penn State. I mean, look at this beard." :jagoffsmilie:

2. No, my little frothy cretin; your grades suffered...
...because you have the critical thinking skills of a rotten Crenshaw melon and you couldn't write your way out of a wad of wet toilet paper.
Now suck it up and go play with your dead fetus in a jar. |

Thanks Systematic Chaos. That post just improved my morale massively. I mean, you would expect somebody that brings home a dead baby and spends all day playing with it and kissing it to be a lofty intelligence wouldn't you, after all?

Because it's generally proven that conservatives have lower IQs.

4. Most likely...
He got low grades because he was a dummy. It's evident in his campaign and if he studied like he campaigns then of course he got bad grades. And he'll probably flunk out of the campaign too. That just leaves Romney....

10. making shit up doesn't go over well with professors
maybe that wasn't as much of an issue for him in law school, I wouldn't know, but in college they frown on that. In politics, of course it's no issue at all. Constituents love hearing bullshit from politicians.

14. They probably
gave him bad grades for bad ideas because he's FULL of bad ideas. The very first one is the idea that going to college is a bad thing.
I'm going to go with the notion that most professors at colleges and Universities who make their living educating people and whom are educated themselves are going to disagree with that position. |

20. No, Rick, your grades suffered because you were a shitty student.
I went to a very conservative Catholic college, and I took plenty of classes with professors with different viewpoints than me--none of them ever docked my grades. It doesn't happen.

21. Obviously, everyone in this story is lying, except Santorum.
Because they're all in on this huge conspiracy to oppress conservatives (and, Santorum implies, Christians) and deprive them of their rightful, earned grades because of their political (and religious) views. Republicans fervently believe that this conspiracy exists.

guess what, I was a year behind you. Thankfully I don't remember you at all and if I did know you back then, I'm glad I forgot.
However, I will say this. All my professors there were only concerned about one thing. Fiction in a political science course is not acceptable. I spent more hours in the library sourcing my work. Did you even know where the library is? |

28. I was at PSU at the same time as Santorum; I had one of those profs for poli sci, too ...
... and I can guarantee Santorum is full of it.
I've had only two professors in all my undergrad and grad work who have continually inserted their political opinion into the classroom ... and, guess what? They were both conservatives. There was a sociology prof at PSU who use to compare abortion providers to Nazis. I had an English prof at another school who wanted to slam Charles Darwin and the theory of evolution all the time. I had one of the poli sci profs quoted in the article as an instructor, and I can attest that he didn't "indoctrinate" us in any way, shape or form. I've been hearing from a bunch of people who also were at Penn State at the same time, and they said Ricky Boy was a pot head. I have no direct evidence; I didn't know the dude. Perhaps he was "docked" because he was too bleary-eyed to do his school work (as many of us were in the 1970s!). |
