At least in this message Warren does not say that deficit spending is itself a bad thing - just that, like any other authorized government expenditure, Congress should pay the bills it has incurred.

She is merely explaining that congress is the entity responsible for running up the debt. She is saying: it is irresponsible to run up the bill and then refuse to pay it.

I don't see it as a statement either for or against deficit spending.

Under Bush they pursued this strategy.

The media has completely failed us in not pointing this out. As far as the media is concerned the debt is a result of "tax and spend" Democrats. The media is now no better than Pravda.

They have enough money to build the greatest military the world has ever seen. While much of this military spending is obscene waste.

Anyone that would vote for a Republican needs their fucking heads examined. Not that there aren't downright horrible Democrats like DiFi.

Mon Dec 9, 2013, 02:16 PM
Dec 2013

There was that fashion analysis that found that Palin's outfits were exactly in line with the Bushes', but apparently nobody bothered to clue Cindy McCain in. I suspect she was foisted on him with the story (which was true) that she was needed to keep the rednecks that are The Matter with Kansas engaged. She could fill a stadium; McCain could not.

If my hunch that Karl Rove wanted Obama in the WH is correct, the GOP needed to get a lot of media for their populist VP candidate to give an impression of party vitality that their sick old presidential candidate could not. Frustrating the red-staters' wishes to see "She's One of Us!" Palin in the White House would guarantee their continued engagement in subsequent years to keep control of Congress.

That is exactly correct.

And the media is complicit in crafting the narrative that President Obama and big spending liberals created the debt.

This narrative continues today with every single talking head on TV blaming Social Security for the debt. Yet it was two unpaid for counterproductive wars of choice, huge tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires and Dubya's medicare expansion.

The spending is Republican spending and they should be forced to own it.
