The Huffington Post is a popular news website that combines breaking news, progressive columns, and the top ten reasons why eating celery can improve your love life.
When you register you can comment on the articles, and if you get past their dubious screening process, your comment will be displayed, where it may be read and ignored, not read, faved, or someone may like your comment so much that they follow you.
After someone follows you, you are asked if you want to follow them back. Why the bleep would you want to follow someone just because they followed you? It doesn't make sense. I follow three columnists and get an e-mail every time they post something. Anyone with a moderate following could easily receive hundreds of e-mails a day telling him that his followers have posted something. Ridiculous!
Often, when you don't follow someone back, they get mad and un-follow you, so your followers total that just went up, comes back down.
Now there is a new rule for commenting at Huffington Post - you have to have a Facebook account! No way am I ever joining Facebook! Screw The Huffington Post!

They are content thieves.
Fuck them.

(6,896 posts)Interesting stage dressing there. Gotta love the countless knobs and switches on Rutherfords axe (presumably a Roland GR500 controller with some mods?)
That ARP 2600 of Tony Banks probably did the actual job.
That single sucked me right into Genesis and quite a lot of very enjoyable music.
thanks!

(6,719 posts)Took them off my desktop. I love DU and am addicted to the toons in the morning. So no problem. No way are my comments going to be posted on FB. And if anyone has their HP posts show up on my FB -- I will unfriend them. No pollution, thank you.

(53,061 posts)I think it would be a great resource to find people that you lost touch with in high school or in years past if two conditions were met:
1) You could only update it once a year
2) You were limited to 300 word and 5 pictures.

(12,448 posts)Do any of those people know anything at all Arianna Huffington? She's nothing but a parasite, always has been and shows no signs of ever changing.
WTF, did everyone just forget what she was doing and saying in the '90s?
Quit being such fucking suckers, you're supposed to be the ones with a functioning brain.
Edit: That last bit was not directed at you, sorry.

(5,169 posts)No big deal. I'm not one of the pretty boys, I am not one of the cool kids in the cool clique, so I am used to it.
On FB, I chat with my friends, post positive affirmations and silly things I find on the net, and read all the hilarious stuff George Takei posts.
If that means I am subject to the derision of others, so be it.

(86,612 posts)about the hp was when Stephen Colbert called it "HuffinPuff" and Jon Stewart called it "The Sideboob Gazette". I thought those were the most appropriate other names for that online rag.

(13,227 posts)I thought the smarter ones would have moved over to TPM by now.
But as moronic as they are, I guess there is a place for trashy lowbrow news on the left as a bit of a gateway drug for low-info voters. The wingnuts already have AM radio, supermarket tabloids and Fox News.

(9,120 posts)I've habitually read comments and often posted my own thoughts. About 5 years ago when they first linked up with facebook, I unwittingly posted what I thought were anonymous comments about members of my family and their "cold hearts". I got a rude awakening from an obnoxious cousin. That is how I found out I was posting on facebook what I'd written on HuffingtonPost. So I complained to them that there wasn't enough of a warning about this new link and their response was to ban me. After that I registered with another email address and continued to comment. But now I'd be identified as myself and not my husband, which is who I've been portraying since being banned for not wanting to be linked to facebook.
I'm so out of there.
