cutting jobs. Especially including "seasonal staff" hired for the "holiday shopping season".
But this year ...
Don't be surprised when the "liberally-biased media" has all kinds of Republicans and Conservatives on damn near every talk show in existence trying to point to all the (normal) closings/layoffs as "the end result of Obamacare taking effect 1/1/2014".

(1,389 posts)I worked at a place for years that each year, as you noted, would lay people off right at Christmas only to call them back in February. It was maddening!

(20,277 posts)Never mind that there are seasonal businesses in touristy places that close every year until spring. Landscaping companies where it's snowy and cold are long done, catering businesses slow down after the holidays too.
