At least he was decent enough to resign

Now if he'd only had the decency to not sexually assault his children's friend from age 9, it would've been awesome for everyone. Another bagger bites the dust.

Kent Co. Commissioner Rolls Jr. resigns

Announcement comes weeks after CSC charges

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Gary Rolls Jr. has announced that will resign from the Kent County Board of Commissioners, effective Jan. 1, 2014.

The resignation announcement came several weeks after Rolls Jr. was charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct.

The charges stem from accusation by a woman, now in her 20s and once a friends of Rolls Jr.'s children, saying he began molesting her when she was nine.

The alleged sexual assaults occurred between 1994 and 2000.

Thursday morning, Kent County Board of Commissioners Chairman Dan Koorndyk said the board had accepted Rolls Jr.'s resignation.

“We appreciate that he recognizes it is better for the Board of Commissioners to select a new member who can represent District 4 without distraction,” Koorndyk wrote in a statement.

Rolls Jr. also issued a statement Thursday morning, which said:

"I thank citizens of Kent County and my constituents of the current and former 4th District for allowing me to serve you. I will use this time to prepare for trial to prove my absolute and complete innocence."

Yeah, he's "completely innocent", except for the inconvenient fact that his wife is the one who gathered the evidence the police needed to arrest him. Whoopsie.
