Bellevue police shot a man with a stun gun Tuesday who refused to put down a running chainsaw during a fight with his girlfriend.
Police were called to a house in the 700 block of South 28th Street about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. A woman told officers that she had been physically assaulted by her boyfriend throughout the day and received minor injuries, Bellevue police said.
In a press release, the department said police spotted a man inside the house grab a knife from the kitchen. Soon after, they heard the sound of a chainsaw coming from the basement.
The officers went to the basement and found Michael Nordmeyer holding the chainsaw, turning it off and on. He had several self-inflicted injuries on his body, police said.

Good thing he didn't have toy gun then all bets are off as to shoot or stun.

(65,342 posts)1. At least this seems a reasonable Tasering. But I immediately thought of the one-armed,
one-legged guy in a wheelchair shot to death by a cop because he was "threatening" another cop with a weapon--a ballpoint pen. If a guy with a chainsaw can be handled without shooting him to death, then the ballpoint pen wielding, wheelchair bound man with only two limbs probably could have been handled without being shot.
