Canada Post is not on life support, it is being murdered

Canada Post’s recent announcement that they intend to end door to door delivery has shocked many. After all, Canada would be the first industrialized country to do so. Every other G8 country seems to be able to deliver their mail from door to door, but Canada Post has other plans.

Canada Post CEO Deepak Chopra was not hired to fix the post office; he was hired to destroy it. The simple truth is that the public post office is one of the most valuable assets in the country. It occupies prime real estate in every city in Canada. Its retail network is the largest in the country, with over 6,000 locations. Its distribution network is also the largest in Canada, with thousands of delivery vans and tractor-trailers.
The private sector is salivating at the prospect of getting their hands on this network precisely because of the money they could make with it. But in order to do this, they first need to slash the service and push it over a financial cliff. When they finally move to privatize Canada Post, they want to get it cheap.

Have you read Naomi Klien's SHOCK DOCTRINE?

My late husband worked for CN Rail and it was privatized. as well as the trucking division , by Progressive COnservatives - like the USA republicans

Occupy was crushed (to a point, it's still in the background) for a reason.

We will have a spring (byte me NSA) in North America, and the ones who control things won't like it.

People must wake up to this fact and demand our public institutions remain public.

that was talking about the prisons being built there. If you look at much of what is happening in Canada it's the neo-conservative playbook from the United States. Most Canadians i've commented to think they're to left leaning and socialist minded for it to happen, but I think many are in denial or uninformed. (The press is better there but that's just a matter of time too). One of the interesting thing about the prison situation is it appeared the underlying goal was to have public dollars pay for a massive infrastructure and then turn it over to for profit companies. I'm sure they'll have ALEC of the north creating a bunch of drug laws and some dumb shit like three strikes laws.
The people who were giving Rob Ford approval ratings higher than obama after Ford had admitted to doing crack and other things told me Canada was having it's right wing moment. i read an article that said the Koch brothers stand to make $100 Billion from their ownership in Canadian land and the subsequent Keystone project. That buys a lot of influence. A LOT of influence.
Be careful my maple leaf friends and be very, very concerned. The neo-conservatives will gradually take over things and many will barely notice until it's too late. They'll come gliding in smoother than a hockey puck on ice (see what I did there, hockey reference lol)
