Update on my 3 a.m. brother and sister (not really much of an update, though)

They were taken to Child Haven with Social Services and from there they check kids out and try to contact the family...anyway, that's a generic answer as to what happens in cases like this, because I was told that because of confidentiality issues, they can't release any information other than to the family. So, basically, I don't know anything.

However, the good thing about being a crazy cat person is that one of my colonies is on county land, and I have worked with people in different county departments on issues, and initially had to get county approval to set up a feeding site there. Anyway, contacted a couple and explained that I just want to make sure they're going to be ok, so they said they'd try to find out what they could without getting into trouble. So hopefully I will find out that way, and if they are still with the county then I will work to get them some Christmas presents. Anyway, not knowing is killing me. Still waiting to hear from them, so I'll update when I do.

I didn't mention in my OP that this is in Las Vegas...no city at 3 a.m. is safe for kids that age, and I think Vegas especially. Thanks.

am afraid you will have to live with not knowing. Any County worker sniffing could get in some really serious shit.

Good for you by the way.

...you might learn if there is a happy ending to this or not. They can't live far from you, right?

It's probably within an area of only a few or several blocks, so I could try and find out....

I know that's a huge undertaking.. I keep thinking of
feral cats and dogs and even one of those would be
huge commitment.

But I can imagine what you are feeling.
Still, something led you to find them.. that's a good sign
in my opinion that there are guardian angels, or
some such thing.

I'm too old to take that one...besides, since my cats boss me around and I have no control over them, I can just imagine what a toodler and a 5-year-old would get away with!
