If the GOP Had Repealed Obamacare, THIS Would Have Been the Devastating Cost to Americans (Video)

Posted by: Bob Cull in TEApublican Smack Downs, Videos December 17, 2013

The many attempts by Congressional Republicans to repeal Obamacare are well documented, along with the millions of dollars that the 45-plus repeal votes have cost the government and, by extension, the taxpayers. But there is another side to the picture which is less well known: what a successful repeal would have cost.

The many who have never had health insurance will for the first time have coverage after the first of the year. Among them are the working poor who could not afford insurance and who did not have it provided by their employer.

Another large group who will get insurance are people who due to pre-existing conditions, were deemed “uninsurable” by the insurance companies. Many of these lost insurance after contracting the illness which disqualified them.

The DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) has released a short video called “FacesOfRepeal,” an online campaign tool aimed at 44 competitive congressional districts, offering photos and testimonials to what Obamacare means to some of these people.

Lesser of two evils doesn't cut it anymore. We still have a predatory Heritage Foundation-derived system that siphons obscene profits to middlemen and saddles Americans with outrageous premiums and deductibles.

"Many Europeans joke that America will always do the 'right thing' but only after trying all the 'other' options. I hope that Obamacare is just a step towards a SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE in the USA" - http://bit.ly/what-is-single-payer — with Corey Ramey.

Success stories are starting to emerge.

December 11, 2013

The latest enrollment numbers are a reminder that the health care law has the potential to help millions of people and is worth salvaging. As the HealthCare.gov website and state exchanges began to function better, more than four times as many people signed up in November as in October, the administration said Wednesday. Nearly 1.2 million people are getting insurance, either through private policies or Medicaid.

Until now, the law's benefits have been mostly theoretical. But as more and more people select plans, the reasons Obamacare is necessary are becoming real:

While people whose insurance is changing are inconvenienced, those who could never get insurance because of pre-existing conditions or the inability to pay are getting it, thanks to subsidies and an end to insurers' ability to turn people away.

The insurance people are getting is substantial, not the flimsy policies that, for example, offered discounts on doctor visits but wouldn't cover a single minute in a hospital.

Annual and lifetime insurance limits that bankrupted people with major illnesses or parents of chronically ill children are gone.

Also gone is the ability of insurers to take away coverage when people really need it, on the pretext that they hadn't disclosed some minor condition from years earlier.
