US Navy Personnel suffering radiation sickness from Fukushima -

Fox News: “So many US sailors coming forward” with symptoms after mission near Fukushima; “Strange lumps all over… he’d been poisoned with radiation”; Hemorrhaging, cancers, leukemia, tumors — Another 50 service members may join lawsuit

Fox News, Dec. 20, 2013: Months after 3/11, while still serving aboard the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier, Quartermaster Maurice Enis, began to notice strange lumps all over his body. Testing revealed he’d been poisoned with radiation, and his illness would get worse. And his fiance and fellow Reagan quartermaster, Jamie Plym [...] also began to develop frightening symptoms, including chronic bronchitis and hemorrhaging. They and 49 other U.S. Navy members who served aboard the Reagan and sister ship the USS Essex [report] illnesses including thyroid and testicular cancers, leukemia and brain tumors [...] They wonder if their service to their country and to Japan has left them doomed. [...] the number of plaintiffs has more than quadrupled from the initial dozen, as more service members come forward with radiation-related illnesses, attorney Charles Bonner said. Nathan Piekutoski, 22, who served aboard the USS Essex stated "I suffered from leukemia." [...] “Within a few months I started getting all these weird symptoms” [...] Plym says she is prepared to have her symptoms question in court [...] with so many U.S. sailors coming forward, she believes justice will prevail.

I hope Japan sees clearly how it needs to take care of these people who came to help Japan and ended up suffering so much.

Blame than the average Japanese personm.

I first published this on DU back in March of 2011:

“We’ve got at least 10 days to two weeks of potential drama before you can declare the accident over,” said Michael Friedlander, who worked as a nuclear plant operator in the United States for 13 years.

Really, Mr Friedlander? Two weeks? It will not be over in two weeks for those in Japan whose family members have been exposed to heavy duty blasts of radiation.

It will not be over for women who are pregnant, and have been downwind of this disaster. And in addition to wrrying about the direct radiation they may have experienced, they might not have enough food to sustain a healthy pregnancy, as regardless of the radiation risk, an embryo needs nourishment to survive.

Children's health will have been seriously compromised - both their health now, and a generation from now when they attempt to conceive a baby and start a family of their own.

The only people this might be over for in two weeks are the slimeballs at GE who went over to Japan with Bush officials in 2006. Then and there, they saw to it that the popular mayor of Fukushima was removed from office, through a scandal they created and publicized, and he was recalled. Once out of office, someone to their liking was installed, and then the people's goal of de-commissioning the plant was no longer attainable. yes it was our American nuclear executives and George Dubya officials that installed a pro-nuke industry guy as the new mayor, and made sure that this poorly designed plant kept on a-running.

Because by managing the press so well, and convincing so may people that this is just a little "burp' that won't affect much, it is possible that GE's stock dividends will rebound.

And then they can get moving this nation into more nuclear reactor building as well. (President Obama has pledged some 58 billions of dollars for this industry!)

I don't blame individuals, and as you state the US is culpable.

But Japan made some big profits from this plant up until 3/11 and they sure can afford to make good for these sailors. To not do so would be an injustice. In the meantime the sailors are seeking justice in the only avenue available. And before someone again calls this course of action 'shady', let them be aware that is the American way; taking it to a court.

"Too Big To Fail, Is Too Big To Jail," the average person has no court.

Our own military has refused for decades to offer monetary reparations to those military service people who had Agent Orange inflicted injuries. Or who had Gulf War syndrome.

Anyway at the link, at bottom of OP, you will see that these Navy Personnel are indeed attempting to have their day in court. I wish them well. But Big Energy, just like Big Finance, tends to have the ability to influence the judges, if you know what I mean.

Ever hear of a fellow named Busby? European who is an active scientist on the nuclear front. Here is a link to one court case he has been working on.

I don't know why people post things from right wing sites, instead of looking for a more impartial source. Thanks for the update.
