Fla. Woman Forces Attacker to Hold 'I Beat Women' Sign in Public

Drivers passing through a busy intersection in Tampa, Fla., this week may have caught sight of a man wearing a dunce cap and holding a sign that read, "I beat women. Honk if I'm a scumbag."

A woman in Florida said she gave the man who attacked her last weekend the choice of getting arrested or sitting on the street for eight hours with the ensemble.

"He's doing it because he doesn't want to go to jail," Alisha Hessler, 20, told ABC affiliate WFTS-TV in Tampa.

...

But Hessler found the man on Facebook and gave him an ultimatum: public humiliation or an arrest.

"He was wasted and I did hit him first because he was groping me and he wouldn't stop. I feel like if he was sober he wouldn't have done that," Hessler told ABCNews.com.

McMullen said Hessler signed a complaint withdrawal on Thursday.

Groping is assault. She defended herself.

The guy may be twisted enough to come after the woman, more seriously this time.

Check out the actual article.

Unless some conversation has taken place between her and he since in which he has sincerely apologised and managed to convince her that this is an EXTREMELY out-of-character event in which case I MIGHT think I should trust her judgement (probably not even then, really) I think she's making a terrible mistake. The photo of her face afterwards is AWFUL!!!

If some guy did that to me and we could find who he was he would SO be going to jail, the bastard.

I don't understand this.

I doubt it will change the guy's future behavior and in fact might make him more likely to lash out in anger.

She should have made him sign an agreement to get some kind of counceling.

Although the part about having him and her two 'friends' (who presumably stood by while she was beaten) clean her house for 3 hours, is good. I'm surprised she trusted them enough to let her into her house though.
