1. Plenty of room for them in the inn; plenty of Motel 6's around; but without a credit card to secure a room - SOL.

He'd have been laid in a litterbox because there's no other place for him to be kept. The cats and/or dogs would have snuggled up next to him. The cats would have been purring on Mary's lap when Jesus was sleeping.
