My wife asked me to ask this question. During the past 2 weeks she has been with several clients homes and a lot of these clients seem to like the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark movie channels.
My wife has seen about 10 ORIGINAL Hallmark movies. These aren't movies that hallmark acquired from other channels like Ms. Scrooge. These are movies that have been made for Hallmark and a lot have been produced by an Alpine company (she thinks it is alpine or something similar.) Anyways she sees these movies and she sees no diversity in casting other than white people.
She doesn't want to start trouble but has anyone else notice how "White" these movies are.
At first she didn't realized it until she really started seeing some of these movies over and over again. and something is really lacking.
Is my wife making something out of nothing?

It's their prerogative to show what they please. They are under no obligation to show diversity.
Not for me.

(1 post)I noticed this and thought I would look online to see whether anyone else noticed this. It has been a year since this was first posted and it is obvious that in that year nothing has changed. You only see diversity AFTER 12:00 a.m. and on extremely few commercials. This is why there is still racism and discrimination in the US when the media lacks diversity and feel that it is ok to discriminate. I started watching Hallmark a few weeks ago because I got tired of all the violence on the other stations, but at least there was diversity even though they discriminate by always portraying African Americans as criminals. When will the US get a clue. I can't even say America because the Canadians treat African Americans better than the US and other countries seem to portray Blacks with no problems, but racism continues to thrive in America.

(1 post)Thank goodness I was wondering if I was the only one thinking this. I guess Hallmark doesn't think other races fall in love. It's funny how they will throw in a black person here and there as a friend or co worker.
