does anyone have that Amazon prime. They are offering a 30 day free membership do they

require some sort of credit card and even if it is 30 days free do they still charge the card before the 30 days?

Last time i fell for that claim the 30 day free trial was like 1 day and they charge the credit card the next.

i live in a rural area and refuse to shop at Walmart so i do a LOT of Amazon. i like their video service, lots of free stuff for my Roku too

i love their customer service too, so i am thinking if they say 30 days, that's what they mean

can automatically charge you for the following thirty days. I had it for a little over a month, decided I didn't want it, cancelled it and got a refund

Yes, we all know how Amazon is evil. They pay slave wages and are singlehandedly responsible for global climate change and the demise of bookstores. And when they figure out a way to deliver gas, that's the end of the convenience store. And the drones. That's a game changer. Or not. Or something like that.

But Amazon Prime is a pretty good idea. For one flat annual fee you don't have to worry about shipping charges on Amazon Prime products, which, for the most part, encompasses most anything you might want to buy from Amazon. If - and that's a big if, I suppose - you are a frequent online shopper, it's worth the money, and I wouldn't worry about the 30-days free. As for whether they charge you initially and then refund the money if you don't continue, or whatever, just ask them. I've found them to be pretty responsive on these sorts of questions.

a couple of times before finally taking the plunge. They have alot depending on your interests (my daughters watch Doctor Who and I watch The Walking Dead (the first three seasons). They have a bunch of pretty good series. It is nice to watch an entire season without waiting (watched the first four seasons of Dexter, rented the next two, and purchased the last two from Amazon). Alot of overlap between Netflix and Amazon Prime (but since my daughter is a student Amazon Prime student is alot less expensive and comes with free two day shipping).

Netflix has

First five seasons of Breaking Bad
Blackfish
First two seasons of American Horror Story
A bunch of the Ken Burns documentaries

Sorry I misread the original post and started talking about Netflix which runs the same kind of offer. Amazon Prime is pretty good as well (especially if you happen to be in college or in a household with someone in college).

and there was no scam - it was 30 days free. Prime is a great service - IF you need it. I read a lot, so the free shipping has more than paid for the service. If you use Roku or one of the other streaming devices that support Amazon (I think most do) then again, it pays for itself in what you get for the membership fee.

The key is to determine if it is something you will use enough to justify the cost. If you order a lot from Amazon, look at the kinds of things you order and see if they would have free shipping with Prime. If you have or are thinking of getting some kind of streaming device, look at what sort of programs are available for free through Prime. Do a cost analysis, in other words.

They do require a credit card (read the terms, you may be able to link a bank account), but they have never charged me early.

They charge after the trial. I'm glad I kept it. Nice not having to hit a $25 minimum, and get speedy delivery. And I got my money's worth just on the streaming/kindle lending library.

I recently paid $3.99 extra for guaranteed shipping 1 day . A snow storm was brewing, and I needed an ice scrapper for my car. When the order wasn't on time, not only was my shipping refunded, but they gave me a free extra month of Prime for the inconvenience of waiting an extra day.

Look for items that have the Amazon Prime logo. Or it says at the top of the page if it's an item sold by Amazon or another seller.

I do a lot of shopping on Amazon, so the free two day shipping pays for the annual fee by itself. The addition of Amazon streaming it's even better. I also have a Kindle Fire HD.

Love Amazon.
