Swedish ice-cream truck to be silenced, melody to be replaced by text message

Swedish ice-cream truck to be silenced

The distinctive jingle of an ice-cream truck is to be a thing of the past in a southern Swedish suburb after residents complained with the melody set to be replaced by a text message.

Residents living on a street in Eslöv filed a complaint about the noise of the truck to supplier Engelholm ice-cream demanding that they turn down the sound or switch it off completely.

"I've spoken with the business owner who drives the truck and he said they make it a bit louder in the winter in order to be heard properly because people are sitting inside," said Carl Gustaf Gudmundsson, president of Engelholm ice-cream to local newspaper Skånskan.

He added that the ice-cream truck only visited the neighbourhood once a month but were urged to act after a home owner contacted the local municipality.

In January Stockholm only gets 6 hours of daylight and Kiruna gets sweet fuck all - 24 hours of night.

This is, of course, a Christmas song, completely inappropriate for the summer.

is not going to work.

Solution: an app that alerts you when the truck is in your area.

I used to work in the Chicago Loop, in an office with a window overlooking the El tracks, about two floors about the tracks. In less than a day, I no longer heard the trains, even though they were quite noisy.
