Another good side benefit of Basic Income - it would give would-be workers leverage.

Aside from the obvious benefit of preventing millions from falling into abject poverty and homelessness, a basic income would essentially be a more modern (and more efficient) version of the minimum wage, and would give would-be workers huge leverage, maybe even better than what the unions used to provide. If an employer wants to hire a new employee, they had better be prepared to make a better offer than the basic income!
