(268,968 posts)Got some in the market yesterday
Recipe
1 Jamaican chocolate ball (If you are outside Jamaica you may need someone there to get some to you)
3 Teaspoon sugar
1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk (we use half and half - condensed is way too sweet for us)
1 quart water
Pinch of salt
3 cinnamon leavers or 2 cinnamon sticks

malaise
(268,968 posts)Do you know that lots of folks in the Caribbean use tamarind tree leaves to reduce fever in babies - talk about woo - and it works.
Readily available and on Amazon, too . That looks luscious!

(3,447 posts)Oh my...if you like white chocolate, it's simply a heavenly cocoa. Fattening as all get-outs of course (180 calories per cup (!)), but mmmm so good. Here's a link to it from Target.com:

I found a big container of it at the evil wal-mart and bought it, but only one time; for the year previous, I could only buy individual packages at a time. They were -somewhat- reasonable at $0.50, but the big container is vastly more cost effective if you can find it.

(268,968 posts)Guess we don't have enough chocolate drinkers in our families. We only drink it over Christmas because of tradition or when it gets chilly - a rare event in these parts.
Will try it on my next trip. Thanks

Tonight and tomorrow will be the worst of it. These days and the 100+ days are the days I wish I never even heard of a farm!

I had to learn how to wrap my pipes. I have never seen an arctic blast like this. Good heavens, we are in the Deep South. Wrapping my pipes so they don't freeze was not supposed to be part of my education!!

(30,947 posts)I never had to worry about that when I lived in South Florida. It is predicted to be 8 degrees here in the Atlanta area on Tuesday morning. I am hoping that by leaving my faucets dripping will keep the pipes from freezing. They did freeze a few years ago, but fortunately did not bust.

(3,033 posts)It's not the snow or wind I'm worried about, it's the -17 temps on Monday and Tuesday night. Our furnace is 32 years old and my husband refuses to replace it until he can't get parts anymore. If the furnace gives out, we have 3 big dogs and nowhere to go.
I lived through the blizzard of '78 - I was 25 years old, by myself, in a house trailer with no heat, no water, no electricity, for 6 days. The National Guard couldn't even get to me. My cat had to live under my coat with me all that time. I never want to do that again. I'm not 25 anymore
