Weather related WOW

I just got a robocall announcing that the university I work at will be closed tomorrow due to extreme weather conditions. I have worked at Grand Valley State University for over 30 years and this has NEVER happened before. GVSU almost always stays open when every other school in the area closes. The last time we closed was during that big blizzard in early February 2011 & that was for only one day. All other area schools, colleges & universities were closed for at least 3 days. I didn't see a forecast this morning, but did see that a lot of churches & businesses have closed. I am flabbergasted. We are under a Winter Storm Warning until 1:00 am tomorrow & a Wind Chill Warning from early tomorrow morning until 7:00 pm Tuesday. Everyone effected by this awful weather please stay safe!

1. My college is closed tomorrow as well.

But we're still on winter break for another week so I guess that administrators didn't think it was that big of a deal to close.

5. Tomorrow was supposed to be the first day of classes for Winter Semester

Maybe they thought it would be too dangerous for students to travel back to campus, although this is becoming more of a commuter school. I am glad they did. The road going out to the main GVSU campus in Allendale, about 15 mile west of GR, is dangerous.

relieved to see that his classes don't start until Wednesday.
