He actually looked like he was pretty baked that day, so this sounds like the right show for him.

(13,081 posts)In real life the guy can be pleasant, even charming. Put a camera on him and he becomes a real d-bag.
Ironically, one of the first times I met him was at the local theater here in Las Vegas; we had gone to the same showing of a Michael Moore movie (can't remember if it was Sicko or Capitalism).

Because I am an atheist, my Mother (He's an atheist, too!) bought me two of his books for Xmas.
I was not amused by his anecdotes.
That said, I have a couple of magic and funny trick books of his, which I enjoyed.
He's a full on Libertarian.

(62,276 posts)If you want to see a more touching side of he (and Teller, who no one really understands) check out their "Magical Mystery Tour" where they went around the world touring esoteric street magicians (and cons) and whatnot.
His books are also sort of projecting this bad persona. Maybe having a family has changed him though but from what I can tell he does try his best to be considerate and kind to people. I think it's his driving force, even if his politics are almost completely wrong.

(62,276 posts)He really does go out of his way to be very approachable and kind.
I think he and Teller's Magical Mystery Tour shows both of their true sides.
The ass persona is a ploy / act. He's one of the more humble people I've ever met.

(14,157 posts)What was odd was that Rachel told him to time it right so it comes just right for the table. However, it looks like the food was not served right away as it sat while the cooks got suited up, planned and performed a skit.
