The Lessons of Physical Therapy By GABRIELLE GIFFORDS

TODAY, the anniversary of the shooting in Tucson that put a bullet through my head and killed six of my constituents, is when I make my annual resolutions.

Many may look at me and see mostly what I have lost. I struggle to speak, my eyesight’s not great, my right arm and leg are paralyzed, and I left a job I loved representing southern Arizona in Congress.

But three years ago, dispatched to an almost certain death by an assassin’s bullet, I was allowed the opportunity for a new life. I had planned to spend my 40s continuing my public service and starting a family. I thought that by fighting for the people I cared about and loving those close to me, I could leave the world a better place. And that would be enough.

I posted an article on Monday about the anniversary of this event and there was no response.

I guess most have moved on to more important things, like woo and gender wars.

I did not see your other post. I apologize. I would have supported it, and contributed.

I suggest you repost this tomorrow during prime time when it will get more exposure.

I will be there like I usually am.

Best regards.

It's hard for me to relate to her peaceful and hopeful words. I have a lot to learn about being a better person.

and it seems like only yesterday to me, but not to Gabby who has worked so hard to get her body back up to speed. A profoundly beautiful, courageous editorial.

7. It doesn't seem like three years since that awful tragedy happened.

So awful. I wonder how all the families of the victims are doing. There is so much violence in this country it is difficult to keep up with all the tragedies and to give them all the attention they deserve. We do move on, not because people don't care but the violent episodes are so frequent now it's almost overwhelming.

Good for her for keeping her spirits up. She did lose so much but her attitude that she was given a chance to live is a good one.

so I got to watch lots of coverage of it, kinda sticks with m. Also serves as a handy reminder of how long ago I was hospitalized.
