Which Nixonian speech will Christie give

as this heats up.
The "Checkers Speech" or the "I am not a Crook Speech"?

And will the good people of New Jersey fall for it?

And speaking of Nixon, is there a Woodward/Bernstein out there who can get to the bottom of this?
Or is the media just docile puppets and will let him off the hook?

In other words, future historians will refer to it as Christie's "I am not a dog speech".

They obtained the damning e-mails from private accounts. Texts as well. That's pretty solid work.

As for the speech, Christie might have to lay low and say as little as possible. Illegally shutting down a bridge probably opens the perpetrators to a slew of criminal charges and civil suits. He's most likely spending a lot of time talking to lawyers and trying to ensure his staff doesn't squeal to protect themselves.

Should be interesting.

Earlier a N.J. local seemed to be getting credit. Either way, the press seems to be on it pretty well now.

The level of hubris is pretty stunning. They thought they could do this kind of damage to satisfy petty spite, THEN thought no one would catch them?

He'll be lucky to stay out of jail.

which does two things: first, it discourages decent people from applying to replace them because they know they'll be the first ones under the bus if he does something else petty and spiteful; and second, it's going to decimate his organization of political loyalists, people he would need to depend on for a 2016 presidential campaign.

So yeah, even if he skates, he's going to be severely damaged in the short term.

and it is fitting. He will have to take a vacation (and skip a presidential cycle) in order to get that street cred back.
