Local teenager gives blankets to homeless in frigid cold

PITTSBURGH —

A local teenager who runs the organization Keep Yinz Warm was in downtown Pittsburgh Tuesday, handing out blankets to people who need them.

Jon Jackson, 16, of Mars, collects blankets and gives them to the homeless.

“They’re really appreciative. They say, ‘You’re a great person. Bless you.’ They’re very appreciate because it does keep them warm, especially on nights like this when it’s minus 1,” he said.

Jackson collects blankets every weekend and tries to hand them out twice a week.
