Fort Lee, N.J. Mayor Mark Sokolich doesn't want New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) to come to the borough to apologize for the bridge scandal that gridlocked its streets, but Christie doesn't care.

"I don't know him, so I can't be offended and I'm not offended," Christie said in a press conference. "If he wants to meet with me today, I'm happy to meet with him. If he doesn't, I'm still going to go up to Fort Lee today because I think it's important for me to be on the ground there today and to apologize to folks. I'm going to do that."

namely, utterly insincere "damage control" grandstanding aimed only at preserving
Christie's political viability. Why wasn't it important for him to be on the ground apologizing to people back in September when the crisis was in progress? It evidently became important only when the [projectile] hit the fan.
