Why did Samson try to silence Foye?

http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/01/bridge_scandal_documents_port_authority_chairman_blasts_executive_director.html

Samson accused Executive Director Patrick Foye of the leaking the information so that he could, ride in “on a white horse to save the day,” according to documents made public today.

In a Sept. 18 email, Samson, an appointee of Gov. Chris Christie, accused Executive Director Patrick Foye of “stirring up trouble” in the wake the lane closures. Foye ordered the closures lifted on Sept. 13, four days after they were implemented.

“Scott: I just read it and it confirms evidence of Foye’s being the leak, stirring up trouble,” Samson said in an email to Vice Chairman Scott Rechler. “This is yet another example of a story, we’ve seen it before, where he distances himself from an issue in the press and rides in on a white horse to save the day. (If you need prior examples I will provide)–in this case he’s playing in traffic, made a big mistake.”

Samson's email was referring to a story about the closures in the Wall Street Journal published on Sept. 17, citing unnamed officials at the Port Authority as saying they had caused tensions within the bi-state agency.

Another email released on Friday shows an effort to keep the story from going public. On the night of September 13, Foye received an email from Bill Baroni, a Port Authority official appointed by Christie (who resigned in December as the scandal was unfolding). It read, "I am on my way to the office to discuss. There can be no public discourse."

If it was merely a study why no public discourse - why the attack on Foye.
- Christie knew - his incoming chief of staff knew and they were all trying to cover this up.
Hubris and time caught up with all of them. Hope they end up in prison.

Yes, how dare Mr. Foye not go along with their nasty little game.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo this week to complain about a Cuomo appointee's handling of a growing controversy over traffic pattern changes on the George Washington Bridge, a person familiar with the matter said.

Mr. Christie, a Republican, complained in a private phone call to Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, that Patrick Foye, the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, was pressing too hard to get to the bottom of why the number of toll lanes onto the bridge from Fort Lee, N.J. was cut from three to one in early September, according to this person. The lane closures occurred without notice to local authorities, officials have said, and snarled traffic for a week in the small borough on the Hudson River bluffs.

It may have something to do with the Comments section, which they said was changing last month, but I doubt it. They had announced in Dec that all commenters must register with their real names and I believe that's now in effect.

I have lots of other bookmarked WSJ pieces that I've just checked and none of them are showing that "subscribe or log in" banner...hmmm.
