It seems that Cillizza and other media types have reduced the impact on Christies future to a binary question of did he tell the truth in his presser. If he did, all is well for him; if not, he is in some kind of trouble. Shouldn't there be questions about the governor's leadership and management style that created an atmosphere where the lane closings could be planned, ordered and then stonewalled by his staff. How can the media ignore the multiple examples of his yelling at and denigrating constituents . These were clear indications of a bullying culture led by a purposely intimidating figure. A media consensus seems to be forming to give this guy a free pass to run for president unless someone can definitively link him to the decision to punish Ft. Lee. The decline and fall of journalism is once more on display in this scandal.

(12,041 posts)Far too often the story is about how the politician presents themself rather than the actual facts of the case at hand.
Christie is a very skilled politician who knows how to talk to the cameras, but knowing how to speak in front of the cameras by no means makes a person innocent nor does getting nervous in front of a camera make a person guilty. Judging a story based purely on how it is presented in a press conference is ridiculous, but our media does this kind of thing all the time.

Nope, don't have to imagine.
