Katy ISD (TX): Potential explosive device found at Seven Lakes High School

KATY, Texas— A potential explosive device was found at Seven lakes High School in Katy Monday morning, school officials confirmed.

Authorities were sent to investigate after the Katy ISD police department learned of a perceived threat on campus around 10 a.m.

Students were escorted safely outside and led to an enclosed area on the football and baseball field while officers swept the campus. The device was found around 11 a.m. and the HPD bomb squad was called. The FBI and the Harris County Sheriff's Office were also assisting.

In order to avoid investigation interference, parents were being advised to not come to the school and pick up their students. Life skills students have been evacuated to Seven Lakes Junior High. Water was being provided to the students and staff as needed.

...

... a zip gun...(edited to add that zip guns can be dangerous but flying helicopters and rushing news vans to "the scene" is a bit of overkill)

and the kid was probably set up by his "friends." I mean how does a backpack (yes, that's suspicious at a school) close down a school unless someone other than the kid knew it was there and told someone. It also blasted on local programming for hours... I hate how this area overreacts.

A nonstory.
