Are we just feckless dolts?

I just watched some Dem Congressman on tv telling Thomas Roberts that we just need to get along and work with the Republicans.

Really? After all these years of being shat upon? Just accept more shit?

When will there be a Democrat who actually fights back against these GOP hate-and-fear mongers? Why are we always saying we'll reach across the aisle, only to have our hands bitten off?

Republican candidate over the Democrat. And they got bitten AGAIN and still claim to support the Republican and to BELIEVE him even after these revelations.

Are they fools or tools? That is the question.

The Republican emperors are standing there with no clothes, and we keep trying to tell them they are naked, and they don't care.

What do you do when they have no shame?

The pope has even publicly shamed these religious hypocrites, then they attacked him....

I have people like this in my family and I just don't know what to do with them either.

How many times have we heard our "Democratic" president say, and do just that ?

I don't want bipartisanship with the Tea Party and the Republicans.

Their policies are PROVEN FAILURES !!!!!!!!!!!!

The decades of research prove how disastrous their policies are for this country.

The Clinton administration kicked us in the gut with NAFTA, repealing Glass Steagal, the Telecommunications Act of 1996, and essentially ending welfare.

This country has shifted so far to the right is sickens me.

I can count on one hand the politicians that I support in this country.

While intelligent people understand nuance and politics, Fox Watchers only understand Douchy and Carlson and O'Reilly. They don't have a freakin' clue.

I guess the question really is, why do we keep voting in these assholes? I have your answer...we've made the "career" of being a politician way too lucrative. Seriously. Do a job search...many of you unemployed people would be better off running for office! You'll only compete against one or two other people. It will take up just as much time, and if you win you'll have a job for life (or until the next election) and full benefits!

A FB friend posted an anti-Obama meme yesterday, something about how Obamacare is a "Socialist" plot. I responded simply with "Obama is a Socialist as much as I am the Pope."

Her entire response was "Just sayin'"

There is no way to discuss serious issues with these people.

Thanks for your reply.

No one should be discussing, or giving any credence to any political parties that deny;

math
science
biology
archeology
decades of research that has been peer reviewed
charts
grafts
data
facts

I place a lot of the blame on main stream media.

I exclude Fox news because Fox news was solely created to distribute lies and misinformation for the Republican party.

I think the main stream media is quickly catching up.

I am so appreciative of the true few remaining journalist, independent media, documentary makers, and world wide leakers and whistleblowers.

I was wonder where the "Dumbing down of America" meme came from. Was it the Media or was there actual proof? I only remember it from hearing it on the News/Talk Show on my way out the front door as a kid.

Seems the point your making is basic "good" education and trusting empirical evidence, which I completely agree with.

If there's any correlation to our contemporary issues.

The majority of sources give credit (strange word to use in this instance) to Edward Bernays.

His uncle was Sigmond Freud.

He was an expert at public manipulation and propaganda.

He is credited with the start of the first Public Relations. It should have been named Public Brainwashing and Manipulating the Masses.

U.S. politicians (world politicians) use his techniques to this day.

Pertaining to basic "good" education and trusting empirical evidence; I was referring to the majority of Tea Party and Republicans. They believe in the Bible over scientific facts. They still believe trickle down worked and will work again. No amount of evidence will sway them.

I think there is a huge correlation to the MAJORITY of contemporary issues this country (and the world due to the influence of this country) faces today.

I am an avid documentary watcher. Edward Bernays is mentioned in many of them.

Politicians, corporations, and the military use his techniques.

There are videos available on YouTube; just type in Edward Bernays.

History shows those in power never support education of the worker bees.

An educated populace is much more difficult to control and manipulate.

I'll be checking Edward Bernays immediately. Most of what you replied with I've had an inkling of but never pursued.

I hope to hear more of you around here.

But if you hold out the hand of cooperation, and get a foot in your face for your trouble, it's something to point to when it's time to ask voters to come to the polls.

Which, if you're in the House, is this year.

"Hey, I tried to reason with these assholes....I mean, you SAW me, man...and still they acted like selfish, whiney shitheads! If we want anything done, to help the people of this nation, we need people in the legislature who will at least WORK for a change! NO NO NO NO is not a solution!!"

If the constitution provided for prize fights and the winner would get what they want, these kinds of comments would make sense.

The goal is to live with others who disagree with us without coming to blows. We've been doing OK at that since 1865.
