Rachel just put this right in Christie's lap and called him a liar.
Just a matter of time but Christie is toast.

They're going to crucify Christie and all of his minions and now he's said that the Republican Party of New Jersey May be involved, awesome.
I wonder if someone told him that the Republicans were all behind this. Wow.

(108,978 posts)who that woman on the left is? She's Michele Brown, head of the Economic Development Authority. She got that $225K a year job as a result of her cozy friendship with Christie. She used to work for him as a prosecutor, and was a really good friend (he once lent her $46K but forgot to report it in his tax returns) but she didn't have any qualifications in economic development.
Anyway, as head of the Economic Development Authority, she's the one who has to approve all the big state projects -- like the billion dollar development in Fort Lee that Steve Kornaki thinks had something to do with the lane closures.
I knew that she had been with Christie at the shore, and that Kelly was there, too, but I'd never seen a photo of them all together. Thanks!

(70,504 posts)I don't know if this was Kelly or Wildstein's text about the cover story they
were working on .... BTW the Fort Lee Police were never contacted before the shut down.
The Port Authority is reviewing traffic safety patterns at the George Washington Bridge to ensure proper placement of toll lanes, the message reads. The has been in contact with Fort Lee police throughout this transition. - See more at: http://www.northjersey.com/news/state/CHRISTIE_KELLY_gwb_lane_closures_seaside_emails.html#sthash.kK6rDUeY.dpuf

so the governor's press sec., his #2 person, his top aid, 2 people he appointed to the P.A., and some more
people in Christie's office all knew of the bridge shut down and yet Christie didn't know?
Thanx for the heads up on Ms. Brown.
Christie is gonna have to resign .... because the drip drip drip will become a flood pretty soon.

(32,609 posts)I have noticed that the mayor of Ft Lee plays things very close to the vest. I know he is worried about his signature redevelopment project but he actually seems scared to me, he seems frightened.
So I started thinking and I can't help but wonder if the Governor has some "friends" who are trying to muscle into the big development of the most valuable land in New Jersey and they are using Christie to overrun the Mayor.
btw - friends = Mob

(108,978 posts)Even this real estate blogger on Zillow:
http://www.lauravecsey.com/2/post/2014/01/fort-lee-hudson-lights-development-key-to-bridge-gate.html
Having covered politics in New York and Pennsylvania for the Albany Times Union and the Patriot-News, it certainly seems as if it is well within the bounds of PLAUSIBLE -- given the kinds of dollars and players involved in deals like these -- that this real estate development deal is exactly the kind of issue that would cause political operatives to go wilding on a retribution scheme.
For instance, bond deals are always fodder for jealousy and shenanigans, because of the fees involved in generating the financing. What about the bond deal for Hudson Lights, as secured by Tucker Construction via banking giant Sovereign Santander? It's just one place to scratch around on to see if somehow, there are threads to be pulled. Retribution like closing bridge lanes may sound like stupidity, as Christie tried to characterize it. But it could be far worse and intentional that stupidity.
The key, going forward, will be to outline the background of this real estate development project. Nothing of this magnitude gets done anywhere without a lot of hands in the pot, or a lot of actors feeling like they may or may not have gotten their share of the deal.
SNIP
My interest in Fort Lee is only more piqued now. Steve Kornacki of MSNBC has apparently today linked the New Jersey players surrounding the GW Bridge scandal and the development deal.
But given the mafia connections to some aspects of the land now being developed courtesy of Mayor Mark Sokolich's Hudson Lights project, I'm glad I am currently in Seattle.
DURHAM D
(32,609 posts)had not seen any speculation about the players in the redevelopment project. It is always money that drives the sort of dirty tricks coming out of the Governor's office and the current conversation the media (other than Steve) is driving is just drivel and a waste of time.

(11,986 posts)This does bring up an interesting point... The GW bridge was going nowhere, and as recently posted here...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024203909
he appears to routinely close a tunnel when he needs to make his way through, so it's possible that, for a while, he could have closed a tunnel as well on his way to downtown! That would have knocked out 2 of the 3 direct hudson crossing from NJ to Manhattan.

whole staff and their appendages were all in on it.
how he is lying, and it is easily provable.
I am watching the clip of him speaking (from Rachel's
show, link below if you haven't seen it).
In his opening, it is most noticeable, and obvious,
that he has learned either from the same coach
as GWBush, or from watching Bush himself.
His inflections and mannerisms are precisely
w's. It is the homey liar persona. So sincere and
American.
It is uncanny. He is a younger fatter greasier

(10,495 posts)1. Get back at the Mayor of Fort Lee;
2. The billion dollar real estate development; and
3. The retribution against the Democratic leader who was the Representative of the district where Fort Lee is situated for not allowing him to replace the black Democrat NJ Supreme Court Justice he declined to renew (1st time a governor had refused to renew one) with a Republican.
Maybe all 3 played a part and, in their eyes, made it worth the risk, if they were even smart enough to realize it was a risk. Me, I think they were too caught up in their power to believe this could hurt them in any way. On Rachel's show tonight she showed a text where one of them states that they had been called by the NY Time on their cell phone. The other's (cannot remember the players names) response seemed to be that they were in shock. Too funny!
