Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker endorses Pete Ricketts for Nebraska governor

Pete Ricketts' quest for governor is getting a boost from a Republican superstar -- Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

Walker is set to appear at a rally for Ricketts in Omaha on Jan. 27, according to an email that Ricketts' campaign sent to some Nebraska Republicans.

"As I am sure you are aware, Governor Walker is a true leader in the Republican Party. He stood up to the big government union bosses, overcame the special-interest-led recall effort and has worked with the Wisconsin legislature to pass fiscally conservative budgets," Ricketts wrote in his email.

Walker earned a national reputation in 2011 after he successfully changed Wisconsin's collective bargaining process with most of the state's public employees. That attempt earned the ire of union workers and others, who launched a failed recall effort against Walker in 2012.
