Canadian airport guard handed pipe bomb back to passenger, allowing the bomb on plane

because it was decided that the passenger who built the pipe bomb was not planning to detonate it. Besides the obvious and deplorable fact that the bomb-making, bomb-toting young man was not arrested or at least detained is that he is white, what isn't getting much attention is that the guards are employees of a private security company and that this company pays low wages and has very high employee turnover so the guards are poorly trained and the low wages are not attracting the brightest individuals. At one time the RCMP were responsible for airport security but no more thanks to privatisation.
