Boo-friggin'-hoo, pal, cry me a fucking river. Now you know what the rhino feels like! (No i'm not advocating shooting the jerk, but it would be nice if he learned a lesson about being hunted
.)
Im a hunter, Knowlton told WFAA. I want to experience a black rhino. I want to be intimately involved with a black rhino. If I go over there and shoot it or not shoot it, its beyond the point.

(2,132 posts)It's not all about YOU.
Those of us who care about endangered species don't give a damn if you're a hunter and "want to experience a black rhino."
I want a lot of things, too, but I'm not going to go kill something or someone to have those things.
The guy sounds like a whiny, entitle jerk.

(5,141 posts)I don't get it...there are less than 5000 left...why do you need to go shoot one?

There will be a public comment period on this once he applied for the import permit.
Humane Society
Once the winner applies for the import permit, there will be a 30-day comment period. We plan to provide evidence to the FWS that trophy hunting a member of a critically endangered species is harmful to that species. We invite you to sign a petition that we will submit along with our comments showing that people do not support issuance of the import permit.

(19,263 posts)And even the Namibian government agrees that it's death has no impact on the survival of the species, I don't see much logic in denying the permit.
Not that I think it's morally right to shoot a rhino, but from a biological standpoint (which the Humane Society appears to be arguing from) they have no case.
that making money off of killing an animal, goes to show the world that there is money to be made on killing endangered animals, and that promotes the practice.
While killing this Rhino at an older age, my not hurt the population it comes from automatically, it does hurt the population in the long run by making them objects to be hunted.
And as Wayne Pacelle points out, it is Orwellian. In what other issue, do we raise money to help something by committing violence against it.

(5,141 posts)Anyone who would want to kill an old endangered animal has issues to begin with, it's not a stretch to think he may have really strange, erm...shall we say, proclivities?
