Chris Christie bridge scandal: 20 subpoenas issued, governor hires attorneyTRENTON In another day of political drama and legal maneuvering, two new legislative committees were formed Thursday to investigate the George Washington Bridge scandal and within hours, 20 subpoenas were issued to 17 key people and three organizations in the unfolding story. The moves in Trenton provided a quick signal that the widening investigation into what role Gov. Chris Christies administration may have played in the bridge lane closures, which led to massive traffic jams last September, will be aggressive and not likely to end anytime soon.
Legislative officials would not disclose the targets of the new subpoenas until all are delivered. But according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation, those in the governors inner circle who have been subpoenaed include Kevin ODowd, the governors pick to serve as the states new attorney general; Michael Drewniak, Christies chief spokesman; Bill Stepien, his former campaign manager; Charles McKenna, the governors chief counsel; Bridget Anne Kelly, former deputy chief of staff; and Matt Mowers, another former aide.

(297,655 posts)Hoboken Can Make Christies BridgeGate Look Like Small Potatoes
"New Jersey got billions from the Federal Government to help the state of New Jersey recover from the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. One of the cities that suffered was Hoboken and Chris Christie promised the people of the city that he would do whatever he can to help them recover, but when Hobokens mayor refused to endorse Christies re-election, Christie refused to hive the people of Hoboken the federal recovery funds/
If it is determined that the people of Hoboken did not get the recovery funds alloted from the federal government because of Christies political retribution, then this could be a criminal act. Chris Christie was in the middle of a reelection campaign. There is a law that governs campaign finance here this country, and all indications are that Chris Christie violated that campaign finance law when he took federal releaf funds and distributed those funds based on political endorsements political endorsements. Thats against the law."
The rest..

(47,209 posts)the impact- and cost- was tremendous. Two- three weeks without electricity or heat. No commuter trains for 4 months. Many small businesses and residences were completely totaled. I know the shore got hit bad too, but most of those people were wealthier, often only second (insured) homes were impacted. Many more republicans down there- and that is where the money went.
