They have broken and pursued many important stories that where not given the best attention on other stations. Getting out the national coverage of the pull out of troops from Iraq, the Trayvon Martin story, the Christy corruption, the nuns on the bus, the Michigan union busting protests - to name a few.

I can't say much against them unless it's when they lose their sense of "people over corporations" by airing Morning Joe and letting Chuck Todd spout off.

A giant corporation reinforces your prejudices then all of a sudden it is great.

Comcast sucks. They are predators.

Do you still think your daddy can beat up superman?

pet peeves like this one.

But maybe things are looking up as I was just reminded by another GD post that I now have Al Jazeera on my Time Warner Cable service. Robert Gates and his stupid MSNBC book tour this week has worn me out. So, I'm off to see what the world looks like from an Al Jazeera perspective.

It is STILL the only channel that I find offers any semblance of real news.

I'm sorry, I cannot abide by the food and fashions segments on CNN. I can't deal with Justin Beiber updates. Two minutes of the Today Show makes me vomit because of the perky bullshit diet segments. What's that shit on ABC? And if you think Fox & Friends is an option, you're higher than Joe and Mika on Starbucks crack. So what are my options? As a political junkie, MSNBC actually has real people on. It's not fashion, food or Justin Beiber.

Do I think MSNBC probably sucks? Yes. But MSNBC sucks with less teeth.

At least the program I was at (a friend is part of the panel), not one of the hosts pumped a book of theirs. In fact, I don't know if any of them have even written one.

Now I don't usually get American TV, and don't even get to see much of it when I'm in the States (like now), but since my friend is part of one of their shows, she invited me to the studio to see it done live. The people there are really nice, and all seem to love what they are doing, even the support staff, and the EP is one cool guy.

Bonus note--I did walk past the room where Ed Schultz was getting his hair done in prep for his show, but was told he does not like to have his thoughts interrupted prior to going on, and didn't want to talk to visitors while prepping, so I didn't say hi. Biggest regret, of course, was not being able to stick around for Rachel. Next time!!!
