(8,964 posts)Too bad about the crash and all. Victims and families would certainly have grounds for a major class action lawsuit here. Unbeknownst to them, they and their loved ones were being served flavored and color-enhanced carbonated water, in other words a bogus imitation beverage commonly known as "Coors". The thought of so many revelers being hoodwinked into a fraud of such massive proportion is tragic news indeed. Possessing advanced technology sufficient to harness massive amounts of energy from frigid polar air masses, it boggles the mind that the company in question did not have the means to manufacture the basic commodity known to many over the centuries as "beer".

(24,368 posts)Sorry...but didn't you look at the video first?
If nothing else, this is an interesting experiment on how DU'ers look through headlines on the first page of GD

(24,368 posts)I'm wondering how many DU'ers looked at the headline and decided NOT to comment because it was a satire piece?
I also wonder how many thought it was real till they got a certain portion into the video.

(25,544 posts)strangely, I used to watch that ad and think, "can you imagine if you were on the street and this train came flying down at superspeed?" I thoguht of the old National Lampoon's "Nose to the Grindstone" issue where they had a pic of a guy with his nose plastered against this grindstone and blood and body parts everywhere.

...."Failure to read"
Sure, you can suggest it. I doubt it will do any good. I am not the only DU'er that tries to lighten the mood in GD on occasion (thankfully).
I realized shortly after I posted this yesterday morning that it has the making for a really good experiment regarding how DU'ers choose what to look at and whether or not they will respond to a given thread.
I figured the "view" count would have been through the roof if the headline had just said "Hundreds feared dead in train crash".
Admit it...that is what you saw, that is all you saw and you opened the thread. It took you just a bit of time after that to realize it was a parody when in fact, if you had ACTUALLY READ the thread title line and taken the couple of extra milliseconds to comprehend it, you would have figured out that it was a joke.
But you didn't, did you?
You aren't alone, I am quite sure, as the view to post count ratio would indicate.
I think this is appropriate here;
"We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who
Comes on at five
She can tell you 'bout the plane crash with a gleam
In her eye
It's interesting when people die-
Give us dirty laundry"
-Don Henley and Danny Kortchmar
It's almost too bad that this is a fake story, isn't it?

Please turn in your key and security pass. Someone will escort you to the parking lot, where you will be flogged with a giant, wet noodle before being sent home to think about what you've done.
