Some posters have made good points on the Hoboken allegations.

If Mayor Zimmer was trying to make political hay over this she could have said something before the election. She could have said something after the bridge scandal broke in the local Jersey press if her intent was to harm him.

Her intent Is not to harm him but to tell the truth. She has made clear she thinks he is a good governor and I bet she would have endorsed him if he did not pull this stunt with the funds.

The main point is she could have done major damage to his campaign and chose not to. Her motivations are the truth IMO and the legislature needs to investigate this. Looks like they will.

Her voice would not be heard. I have watched today as the media and some Democrats are still protecting Christie by screaming over her.

Otherwise, you'll get run over by the non-believers, or worse, the ones who know you're telling the truth but will try to quiet you by defaming you.

Step One: Show there is a culture of intimidation and retaliation taking place in the community.

Step Two: Get someone in authority to do something about it.

Either she recognized extortion for what is was, didn't, or was hoping her love for the Gov. would be enough, as she tweeted during the run up to his election.

hoping the Sandy money would come through after all -- and afraid to take a chance on messing with that. Or who knows what other retribution Christie is capable of.

And she probably thought no one would believe her -- and then what would happen to her city?

She just thought that the coastal properties were getting all the money.

It's probably only after the bridge scandal that it finally convinced her that Christie was a bad person. You can tell she is a good person who naturally wants to believe the best in others.

she knew that would either be disbelieved or dismissed as a partisan "witch hunter." Or maybe she'd convinced herself that she was being paranoid or overly needful.

But now she finds that she's not alone -- others are coming forward with the same stories. Now she must be feeling empowered and unburdened instead of self-doubting and a little ashamed. Such is the nature of coming out of relationships with abusive partners.
