http://www.businessinsider.com/chris-christie-msnbc-hoboken-mayor-dawn-zimmer-2014-1In response to new bombshell allegations from Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer (D) aired on MSNBC Saturday morning, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's (R) office blasted the network as overtly "partisan."
Zimmer alleged in an interview with MSNBC's Steve Kornacki that the Christie administration held Sandy relief funds "hostage" as leverage for a development project she said top Christie Administration officials Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and Richard Constable, Christie's commissioner of community affairs pushed her to support.
In a statement Saturday afternoon, Christie spokesman Colin Reed said that the governor and Zimmer have had a good working relationship throughout both of their tenures. But the first part of his statement focused on MSNBC, and how "gleeful" it has been in attacking Christie as controversies have popped up in his administration over the past two weeks.
Reed noted the bizarre ad produced and aired this week by MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell, which attacked Christie over the burgeoning scandal involving lane closures on the George Washington Bridge in September.
***good luck with that, mr christie. good luck, you're gonna need it.

(3,639 posts)happens is when someone blames the media for all their problems, the other news outlets usually pile on.
Unless, the charges are false, which by all accounts it does not appear to be since the mayor in question was actually a christie supporter, he is going to find himself digging the hole very deeper.
The one thing that concerns me if this is a rove trick that somehow they will distort things to such a degree like they did the bush AWOL with Dan Rather. I don't see that happening, and supposedly there is a paper trail with emails etc.

(9,033 posts)if the money boyz abandon him. I haven't been keeping up with their reaction but it seems to me that they are standing on the sidelines at the moment, not mounting a full-throated defense.... I bet that is exactly what the Christie camp is trying to provoke though, by casting themselves as the victims.
We'll see, but I think Christie is done. If more allegations come to light, and dots are connected, nobody is going to want to touch him.

(19,564 posts)Christie's aide Reed, is a fool for bring more peoples attention to MSNBC's coverage of Christie and his current scandals. It will attract more viewers and bring in more hits to their website. The actual story has been picked up by Reuters now, so it's no longer just a "cable news" program speculation.

(10,437 posts)is the start of the death spiral. A year from now, New Jersey will have a different Governor. The blood scent is in the air and the fear of retribution will be a thing of the pass as more politicians will step forward and will verify Christie's stronghanded tactics.

(650 posts)When he was playing nice with the President I was thinking Michael. Then when the videos of him berating people in public came out along with the bridge thing and some of the other stuff came out I'm thinking, no this guy's Sonny. Now, he's gonna drive the ignorant masses (Fox viewers and other "conservatives" toward some actual irrefutable journalism to complete the coup de grace on his political career. This has Fredo written all over it.

(13,877 posts)Read it, and mostly it was an attack on Zimmer...non-issue type of thing. Saw the titles here on DU and went back...the link has disappeared and there is now a story about the redevelopment issue...which is the basis of the Zimmer story. This one is where the big guys fall, IMO.
They now know that someone high up is going to get immunity, and the cover up...yet again...is what will bring them down.

I have a feeling, too, than MSNBC won't allow it to go too far. Griffin is a coward. He'll be making Rachel, Kornacki, and Chris apologize before it's all sad and done.
