(8,155 posts)Does absolutely nothing to diminish the importance of corruption in the US. You have made the standard liberal mistake of attempting to diminish the importance of one event by subordinating it to another.
Moreover, you have failed to realize that certain stories carry localized importance that cause them to draw more attention and that such attention is totally justified. It's okay to give greater attention to a story that has greater personal consequence or importance.

(21,946 posts)anything about them. In this country, we have enough prosecutors to investigate the wrong doing that needs taken care of. I sincerely believe this country can chew gum and run at the same time.
People like Christie need the stoppers put to them, as I'm pretty sure they will be. An investigation needs to be taken and if laws were broken, jail time is warranted.
It needs talked about to inform the public what is going on, not only there, but across the country.

(5,170 posts)also Free Speech TV and Democracy Now, or RT America. You'll get more world coverage and less domestic stories.

(49,212 posts)They certainly don't cover stories like Egypt's constitution which are neither visual nor simple.
If Chris Christie were abducted by aliens the media still wouldn't cover the CAR. For one thing it doesn't fit the Muslims victimizing Christians narrative.

(2,419 posts)and its not "typical" NJ politics. Although that is what many who want to minimize this group of incidents of serious misconduct would have you believe. This is an important story because there is a chance that the oligarchical thuggery that that passes for modern American government may just be held to some form of accountability.

(961 posts)Philly for 6 years and NYC for a couple. Pols there tend to be thugs and punks who do this "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours, or else" petty, vindictive, backstabbing crap. It wasn't any better in NY or Philly. Oddly enough things get done anyway, howbeit at a higher cost in time and money than it should. Just on occasion one of them gets caught and you get this. So, yeah, I'll stick with typical since I've seen it time and time again.

(40,416 posts)If you are tired of Christie, just ignore those threads, or just don't click through to them.
Easy-Peasy!
Otherwise, let's not be calling for silencing a topic just because you don't like it.
Thanks.

(2,340 posts)with a good amount of DU posters is not only the comeuppance of a rude and abusive politician, but the fact that the corporatists have been exposed so well. Not just the dirty dealings of Christie as a person, but of the control of the legal/industrial complex...the proverbial 1%.
This has implications far more than New Jersey, but for our nation as a whole and by extension; the world.
Do you not think that there is some link between what happened in West Virginia and what is happening in New Jersey?

(2,679 posts)But until everything plays out we are stuck with this lame name.
Other then the name I think the press needs to cover it more. This is just one of those stories that just keeps on giving. Kind a like being in a jello of the month club. Only better, as bullies might actually get called out and removed.
If you are sick of this story might I suggest Aljazeera America as they have really good coverage. Or if you really must there is that fake news channel, I'm sure they barely mention this story other then to rip Mayor Zimmer.
