9th congressional GOP hopefuls differ on many issues
snip:
Atanus was outspoken on several other issues, as well.
"Abortions should not be used for birth control," she said during an endorsement session both candidates had with the Daily Herald editorial board on Monday.
Williams said he also is pro-life, but said the decision should be between a woman and her doctor without government involvement.
"I am a conservative Republican and I believe in God first," Atanus said. She said she believes God controls the weather and has put tornadoes and diseases such as autism and dementia on earth as punishment for gay rights and legalized abortions.
"God is angry. We are provoking him with abortions and same-sex marriage and civil unions," she said. "Same-sex activity is going to increase AIDS. If it's in our military it will weaken our military. We need to respect God."

(9,933 posts)What a shamefully stupid individual. It is an embarrassing that someone this stupid and crazy is running for office. People like her make our country look ridiculous. She should be in an institution, not a representative of the people.

(2,419 posts)that "tornadoes and diseases such as autism and dementia" might be God's punishment for the way they've been treating gays, the poor, the environment, etc... and that conservative nut jobs are actually the source of the wrath of the almighty? It couldn't be their behavior, right? (Disclaimer: I don't believe that God is responsible for any of these things)
But putting aside the "Oh THAT's the part of this you find unbelievable" element of these statements, wouldn't treating people badly be a more likely source of retribution?

(1,186 posts)OTOH: I believe that the Lord bought disease to earth because of Republicans.
On second thought, Republicans ARE the disease.
