The D'Souza alleged crime was donating $10K+ to 2012 NY Senate candidate

by using dummy donors who he reimbursed to donate, or otherwise donating under other people's names.

And, assuming he was not contributing to Kristen Gillibrand (that's a joje, but the beneficiary is not named yet) it seems this was done in a truly FUTILE cause.

Kristen Gillibrand was opposed in the general election by Wendy E. Long (who ran on the Republican and Conservative Party lines) and by three minor party candidates. Gillibrand was re-elected with 72% of the vote, by a margin of 45.2%, the highest margin for any statewide candidate in New York. Gillibrand performed 9 points better than President Barack Obama did in the presidential race in New York.

What causes a man to go from that to cheating on his wife and now this?

Cocaine? He must be our version of Rob Ford.

Why would you donate to a candidate who probably had the least likely chance of winning of anyone in the country in a 2012 race?

Isn't Dishwash going through an ugly divorce? Money laundering, anyone?

He's a true believer, just like many other Republicans. Facts and data are meaningless. God informs these guys about truth, some voice in their brains.

Nobody is an exemplar of this beyond Dinesh D'Souza.

When people believe that they have absolute knowledge, with no test in reality, this is how they behave.

The grifters and their victims....D'Souza's a grifter, which is why this makes no sense.

I'm confused.

I suppose there are more "legit" methods.

Like when Republicans try to man every road and airport boards with people who are known rainmakers.
