4 Republicans Will Now Be Responding To Obama's State Of The Union Address

4 Republicans Will Now Be Responding To Obama's State Of The Union Address

The state of our union is....well, it depends on who you happen to listen to.

President Barack Obama will deliver his annual State of the Union address Tuesday night where he is expected to make the case for government as a force for good at a time where conservative-driven focus on deficits has paralyzed Washington from taking meaningful action to create jobs and bolster the economy.

The official GOP response is set to be delivered immediately after by Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), the fourth-ranking Republican in the House, who will appeal to women voters on behalf of a party that has often found itself marred by wild musings on abortion and rape.

Americans will also get a rebuttal from Tea Party Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), who supported a quixotic effort to shut down the government, that will follow the President as well. Or they can tune in to a pre-recorded address by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), a possible 2016 contender, which will air on YouTube after Obama finishes speaking.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) announced Monday she will deliver her own State of the Union response in Spanish that will be televised by CNN, Telemundo Univision and other channels.

4. Republicans represent 1/3 of American voters
Tue Jan 28, 2014, 01:33 PM
Jan 2014

so this means that each of these four TeaPublican idiots will be speaking for about 8-9% of the voters.

The 53% of us who elected President Obama demand equal time.

That means we need the networks to give progressives SIX responses to the TeaPublicans.

That 1/3 and that 53% refer to very different things. They may well both be legitimate in their own right, but juxtaposing them is misleading.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/159740/democrats-establish-lead-party-affiliation.aspx

Party Identification (Including Independent Leanings), Annual Averages, Gallup Polls, 1991-2012

The estimates are based on an aggregate of all 2012 Gallup and USA Today/Gallup polls, consisting of more than 20,000 interviews.

So reduce my Democratic, Progressive, and Liberal responses to the three TeaPublicans down to 4 instead of 6.

We have one President, elected twice by a majority of American voters, making one State of the Union address.

Why are the airwaves being cluttered with THREE responses from a minority which represents anywhere between 29% and 42% of the voting public? Must be liberal bias.

49. Again, those are the wrong numbers
Tue Jan 28, 2014, 06:17 PM

The measure of balance will be "amount of time given to President's speech" vs "amount of time given to responses"; how many responses that airtime is split between is not relevant to media bias.

52. Obviously they are not YOUR numbers
Tue Jan 28, 2014, 07:21 PM
Jan 2014

but that doesn't make them "wrong."

But if it establishes a new standard that Democrats, Liberals, and Progressives each get guaranteed network time to respond to TeaPublicans, I don't mind at all.

While each of these TePublican factions claims to represent some group, every time I see their names they all have the same (R) behind them. They claim to be a "party" yet morf themselves into separate factions for taking over the airwaves.

It is not the issue of number of minutes, but the issue of access to a media platform.

and Telemundo will probably have an impact. Hopefully the President's address will be translated for the Spanish language channels.

It's clear what the Republicans are doing. They're dividing up their message and making it target specific. Of course, it's because they don't want the Latino voters to hear what Mike Lee has to say, or the crazy Fundie lady from Washington state. How much you wanna bet all these messages contradict one another? Let Rand Paul fans know what the Latino woman is saying. Let Mike Lee fans hear what the Latino woman says, and so on.
It's disgusting when you have to hide your message from so many. Effective, but disgusting.

LOL Cruz demands State of the #Benghazi address

by Jed Lewison

Last seen holding President Barack Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid accountable for shutting down the government in October, Ted "Calgary" "LOL" Cruz has demands for President Obama's State of the Union speech later tonight:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Monday called on President Obama to use his State of the Union address on Tuesday to answer questions about the 2012 attack that killed four U.S. officials in Benghazi, Libya, as well as other issues like IRS targeting and ObamaCare.

It's like Texas elected Glenn Beck, but without the sense of humor. The good news is that he's still hilarious. Awesomely so.

Oh, and pardon the quick programming announcement, but tune back in later tonight starting at 9 PM ET: We'll be liveblogging the president's speech, and the comment threads are sure to be a blast, as always.

COMMUNIST agenda that the half black Kenyan is about to deliver. So afraid that Americans are so stupid they will just instantly be hypnotized by the terrible, painful con games the Democ RATS are blatantly spewing while throwing 1000 dollar bills down the toilet! The poor sheeple have no choice but to obey the grand dictator of the New Order as he forces decent healthcare options and women's rights down their unwilling throats! HOW DARE HE!!!

The entire army is coming down on Obama's head, eyes flashing, Bibles flying, and flagrant ignorance of science arrogantly displayed! (only to impress the other males in the monkey troop how tough they are on uppity females and the lazy poor)

It's almost as if Obama could hurt them! Just by talking! Yet they declare his agenda is weak and powerless. Huh.

Shouldn't they just ignore him?
