Man gets 30 years for role in shooting death of teen wearing red

Since we allow gun posts that involve children, I figure a teen isn't stretching the rule much. He had a bright future. Smart and wasn't a gang member.

A 24-year-old Omaha man will spend at least 30 years in prison for his role in the shooting death of a teenager who was killed for wearing red.

Joshua Vanackeren apologized to Montrell Wiseman's family during his sentencing in Douglas County District Court on Tuesday.

"I wish I could take it back. ... I think about it every night before I go to bed," a tearful Vanackeren said.

Prosecutors said Vanackeren drove a vanload of men – including some gang members – Oct. 21, 2012. They were looking for someone to kill in a rival gang's neighborhood.

I hope he thinks about what he did for the rest of his life.

I hope he finds some way to find redemption.
