The Senator was a very nice and sweet woman, but she's got a nasty habit of either cherry-picking anecdotes to suit the Republican narrative OR making it up out of whole cloth for the same reason.

3. There was a gal that paid $54 a month

When the health care exchanges opened there was a story about a woman whose premiums would increase to $300 per month. However, her $54 insurance was worthless and if she ended up in the hospital we would be stuck with the bill. I'm sure Betty had a similar policy where if she or here family ended up in the hospital we would all pay the bill when she filed for bankruptcy.

The GOP's health care plans deny reality. They keep talking about capping malpractice lawsuits, but the cost in medical care is in the hospitalization and the medical & medicine patents that keep health care high. Other countries don't let capitalists drive their people into bankruptcy and neither should we.
